The new Royal Oak Concept Watch, produced in the Audemars Piguet Acoustics Research Lab, is the first timepiece to be acoustically standalone, demonstrating its unique sound concept. The brand has been collaborating with the Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL) on sound effects. After three years of acoustic research plans, the two parties successfully transformed related technical research into watch concepts. This allows the watchmaker to scientifically set the sonic target, thereby measuring and making the ‘perfect’ minute repeater sound, with its volume reaching unprecedented levels.
